How do we work?

During our classes we use the method of applied drama, which is based on the natural tendency of people to impersonate other characters, camouflage themselves, pretend, imagine and create. “Drama can be defined as a method of teaching and educating through active identification of students with fictional roles and situations” (Witerska, Process Drama). Using this innate tendency to act, under the safe cloak of a role, participants can explore their ways of reacting in different situations, but most importantly, discover new, unknown paths of action, precisely by trying solutions other than those already known. This is how drama differs from “scenes.” It is a lively improvisation electrifying the participants through the conflict in which they are involved.

The scenarios are based on a special subcategory of applied drama – process drama. What are the differences? They mainly concern narrative. The workshop is a story. “Processual drama is a whole-group drama process, improvised by all people at the same time” (Witerska, Processual Drama). At the same time, the facilitator plays an important role. Through the facilitation or activation of the participants, we pursue the previously established educational goals.
